What is Flexor Digitorum Profundus?

  Flexor Digitorum Profundus Muscle Introduction The Flexor Digitorum Profundus (FDP) is a deep muscle of the anterior compartment of the forearm , playing a critical role in flexing the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joints of the fingers. This muscle allows for strong gripping and fine finger control. It is particularly important in daily tasks like writing, typing, grasping, and climbing. Its deep anatomical location and complex function make it essential for both gross and fine motor skills of the hand.
